This past weekend, we had the distinct pleasure of performing the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception for Melissa and Matt Dickman at Wolf Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega, GA. The ceremony was performed solo on violin from our highly talented, multi-instrumentalist, Jeff Spirko. Melissa and Matt went with “Canon in D”, “Bridal March”, and “Wedding March” for the songs to set the mood. The ceremony was tucked away in a quaint mountain setting under a beautiful outdoor pavilion nestled among the property’s vineyards.
Matt and Melissa chose the Ray Lamontagne ballad, “You Are the Best Thing” as their first dance with each other, and “When You Need Me” by Bruce Springsteen as the joint dance with their parents.
When the official reception began, we knew we were in for a treat, because this crew was ready to dance! From our first song, Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places”, to the final song of the evening, “All My Life” by KC and Jojo, nearly the entire wedding crowded the dance floor and sang along to familiar favorites, mostly selected by Melissa and Matt. One of the highlights of the night came when our own Marshall Coats crooned “Roxanne” by the Police. Matt and Melissa, who met at UGA, joined their entire wedding party and many more in the center of the dance floor, drink(s) in hand, imbibing and singing the night away, lyric for lyric.
Here’s a video clip we captured of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”, showing Melissa dancing with her grandma, a great moment!
We want to especially thank Shannah Montgomery of Zoom Works out of Athens, GA for her wonderful photography work (image shown above), and Lindsey Smith of Wolf Mountain Vineyards for her impeccable planning and sharing their awesome venue with all of us!
