I met Anthony and Anne Marie for the first time playing a rooftop acoustic gig in Brookhaven at Pure Taqueria. After a brief conversation with this good looking, easy going, young couple, I fell smitten at the prospect of working with them. After a glowing testimonial from one of Atlanta Wedding Band’s favorite couples ever, Sarah and Steven Hecht, we closed the deal to perform their rocking wedding at The Waterfall Club at Lake Burton.
AWB rode 7-deep up to Clayton, GA on a picture perfect fall afternoon. The lineup included Matt Palmer on Lead Guitar and Vocals, John Thrasher on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals, David Shaver on Keys, Chelsea Thompson on Vocals, Michael Opitz on Sax, Daniel Winn on Bass, and Travis Jones, “The Silver Fox”, on Drums and Vocals.
Matt and John performed as an acoustic duo for Anne Marie and Anthony’s ceremony. The entrance songs included “Wedding Song” by Kenny G (Mothers), “1,000 Years” by Christina Perri (Bridal Party), and a stunning Anne Marie walked to a stirring rendition of “Canon in D”, Pachelbel. During the unity candle lighting, Anne Marie and Anthony prayed and lit to “Multiplied” by Need to Breathe. There are some ceremonies AWB has the privilege of playing that carry heavy with it love and sincerity, this was one of them. After it was official, Anne Marie and Anthony exited stage center onto their new life to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne.
With newly minted rings on each of their fingers, it was time to create everlasting moments with their first dances.
Bride/Groom – “Perfect” – Ed Sheeran (If you haven’t heard this tune by ES, I suggest you check it out and highly consider it for your first dance as husband and wife, amazing stuff!
Father/Daughter – “My Girl” – the Temptations
Mother/Son – “The Man You’ve Become” – Molly Pasutti
This reception is one AWB will never forget. It was truly the evening that glow sticks ruled the night. Without a care in the world, A+AM, along with their friends and family flooded the dance floor, glow sticks in hand, and danced the night away. Some notable tunes from the evening included.
“Ignition” – R Kelly
“The Middle” – Jimmy Eat World
“Friends in Low Places” – Garth Brooks
“Old Time Rock n Roll” – Bob Seger
“Superstition” – Stevie Wonder
“Tennessee Whiskey” – Chris Stapleton
