On June 18, AWB hit the road for my younger brother, Robert Thrasher, for his Athens wedding with his bride to be, Brooke Thrasher. Glow sticks ruled the night and I don’t think we’ve ever seen a dance floor so lively!
AWB played the ceremony with Nate Sexton tickling the ivories, Jeff Spirko on violin and Seth “running” Watters on guitar. I was serving as best man as I couldn’t believe my younger brother was beating me to the altar! I was also honored to be asked to sing in the band, so it was a big day!
The reception band AWB’s driving, powerful 6-piece with John Thrasher on guitar and vocals, Marshall Coats on guitar and vocals, Nate Sexton on guitar and vocals, Jeff Spirko on keys, violin and vocals, Travis Jones on drums and vocals, and Seth Watters on bass and vocals. Robert and Brooke’s first dance was to the currently popular “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne (which I had the honor to sing!). The reception was danced away into the night with notable artists covered by AWB, Third Eye Blind, The Temptations, Bruno Mars, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, Queen, the Killers, Otis Redding, and Journey to name a few.
